    Awesome instrument!

First of all, this u-bass looks amazing. The zebrawood has such nice grain patterns and the ubass is well made. The sound is great both acoustically and amped. I like that it is quiet enough when unplugged to allow playing without disturbing your surroundings but plug it in and it's clear and loud! A great value for such a quality instrument.

    Amazing tone

I was amazed with the sound and craftsmanship of this u bass, arrived in 3 days and I can’t put it down. No fret buzz and I’m just overall impressed with the tone I can get out of it. Even when playing unconventional tunes this u bass can cut through. Now I just need some metal wound wound stings

    5 Stars

I love the portability. I love the unique tone and feel. Getting used to controlling my left hand when fretting those A and E strings. I love playing chords and arpeggios and they sound nice and warm on this instrument. I'd recommend this to any bass player.

    Just About Perfect

This little U-Bass is absolutely beautiful and sounds great. If I just want to pluck along at my desk, it's resonant enough to hear the notes clearly. But plug it into an amp and - Wow! Hard to believe it sounds so big. So why not five stars? Well, for two tiny reasons: 1) It has only one strap pin. Some people wouldn't care, but I want two. And when I ordered mine online, directly from Kala, there was no option to have a 2nd pin installed. 2) The thick strings (which made me hesitant to buy the U-Bass, but love them now) conceal the fret markers on the face of the fretboard when I hold the instrument in a playing position. That's o.k., a result of the great strings. But the side, fret-marker dots are so small and dull that they are useless (at least to me). So I've resorted to putting snippets of colored labels on the side of the fretboard to mark frets 3,5 and 7. Minor, yes; irritating, yes. Would I buy the U-Bass again? Absolutely!
